What symptoms or conditions does chiropractic treat?
Chiropractic is a health care discipline that emphasizes diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system. It is traditionally viewed as treatment for back pain through gentle adjustment of the spine; however, chiropractic treats more than just the spine. It is also very effective for treating the peripheral limb joints, and various pain syndromes, including headaches. Chiropractic philosophy teaches that adjustment of the spine alleviates nerve interferences to maintain the natural functioning of the body and its innate healing abilities. Treatment through chiropractic aims to treat the whole body and facilitate a state of optimal wellness.
Do you accept health insurance?
Yes, we do. We accept large health insurers such as Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna and United Healthcare. Please call to check if you have health insurance with another provider, as we may have benefits with those in or out of network as well. We will file claims with your insurer on your behalf, but you are responsible for meeting your co-pay (if applicable) at each appointment.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring your insurance card (if applicable.) If you have them, you may also bring any health records or x-rays that have been released to you from your physician for Dr. Young to review as part of her initial assessment. We also request that you arrive 10-15 minutes early for your first appointment in order to fill out your intake forms.
What will happen during my first appointment?
Dr. Young will do a brief physical examination, ask questions about your medical history and talk withyou about the symptoms you are experiencing. You will remain fully clothed during your examination. She will check for imbalances in your spinal alignment and extremities, and then perform a chiropractic adjustment. If you require a gentle touch, please let Dr. Young know prior to the adjustment so that she can provide modifications as needed.
After your adjustment, you are encouraged to receive a 10 or 20 minute mini-massage from our licensed massage therapists.
